Dear Colleagues,
MAALLT is pleased to announce its 2009 conference - Reaching the Foreign Language Learner through Technology - to be held on the campus of Washington and Lee University on February 19-22, 2009. MAALLT welcomes your proposals for directing a two-hour workshop, leading a round table discussion, or giving a twenty-minute or forty-five minute session.
Categories of interest and topics are not being dictated. Especially desired, however, are topics that deal with the juxtaposition of culture, language, and technology in teaching. Other topics of interest are adapting the language student to using technology for learning, not just for play, as well as, how language learning technology facilitates attaining substantial, lasting proficiency.
All proposals are to be submitted online using the form provided on the Conference's web site: http://tmc.wlu.edu/MAALLT/home1.htm . Proposals must be received by 11:59 PM, EST, November 10, 2008.
MAALLT welcomes proposals from instructional technologists, language instructors, graduate and undergraduate students, and instructors working with students on special projects for integrating technology into the language program.
MAALLT especially wishes to encourage student participation in the community of professional practice. In place of the traditional keynote speaker session, this conference will have two special sessions comprised of student presentations representative of the up-and-coming in the profession.
As an added option, students not able to attend but who are interested in being part of the regular program may present via special Internet sessions for students only. These proposals should be submitted in the normal manner using the Conference's online submission form , and selecting the proposal type Internet Session - 20 minutes.
Questions regarding this Call for Proposals or the 2009 MAALLT Conference should be directed to Dr. Paul R. (Dick) Kuettner at 540-458-8995 or Kuettnerd@wlu.edu .
MAALLT looks forward to receiving your proposal.
