In this modern era of computers, internet, instant messenger, wikis, blogs, and DVDs, how does access to authentic language and global communication impact our understanding of culture and the learning of language? Is modern technology an enhancement or a liability to the integration of culture and language teaching? Is the internet the innovative answer to cultural comparisons or does it simply replace the tried and true?
Your experience and insight is invaluable! We invite you to share it with K-12 teachers and language learning technology professionals at "Culture in the Digital Age". "Culture in the Digital Age" is a combined effort of the Mid-Atlantic Association of Language Learning Technology and the Annual Randolph-Macon Saturday Seminar.
We invite presentations, workshops, and panels of various lengths that interest K-16 language educators and professionals supporting the use and integration of technology in language learning.
Especially welcome are proposals for 15-60 minute sessions that illustrate the blending of foreign language learning with cultural topics and that address one of the following areas:
- Innovative uses of technology
- Supporting student and faculty with technology
- Comparisons of technology-enhanced and traditional approaches
- Best practices and strategies that unite culture and authentic language in the classroom (various lengths of 5-15 minutes).
Many thanks to all who submitted a proposal. The call for proposals is now closed.
